5 REASONS WHY NO ONE IS READING YOUR BLOG POSTS

You share your blog posts: they think it's wack. Is that true? It maybe that your copy is actually wack. But in reality, there is nothing like the perfect copy and that 'wack blog post' deserves its own amount of view time. So, here are 15 reasons why I believe your blog post writing isn't getting read. 





1. YOU ARE ALL ABOUT THE MONEY. 

Are your posts really helping anyone. If you were to leave the blogosphere today, would someone feel your presence or absence? You can start a blog to promote yourself and actually get by offering little or no value at all but it all comes crashing down when someone else begins to offer real value.

2. IT'S NOT FUN. 

Children writing is fun. Maybe you need to read a lot of children writing to understand that. You have to be much fun to catch the attention of a 5 year old. Alas, many people have the attention span of a 9 year old. Your writing needs to catch their attention. Forget professionalism if you want to promote your blog post and bring out the fun side of you when writing. 

You don't have to be funny, just be fun. A long bleak copy with all facts will certainly not get read the same way a copy with facts and light-hearted fun would, no matter how much you promote your blog. Not really funny as to crack peeps up but at least you are real. Show professionalism mixed with realness in your blog post writing.

3. YOU'RE NOT KEEPING IT SIMPLE.

Enough of the big technical terms. Only use technical terms when writing to someone 'technically'. When writing to a novice like many people online are, make it as simple as ABC. Check these internet stats and you'll notice that the number of under-educated people online significantly increases as the year goes by and so should your blog post writing become simpler and simpler to understand.

4. YOU'RE NOT BEING SOCIAL.

Put as much effort as you put into writing your blog into sharing it. Don't just share your blog posts, don't just promote blog to increase traffic, engage with people on social media. It's a great way to build targeted traffic and subscribers to a list if you're growing one. Writing for search engines is beneficial in the long run because as you get more blog posts on your site and promote your blog post, targeting particular keyword(s), search engines can actually pin point what your blog is about and send you targeted traffic. 

But don't make SEO your be-all, end-all, you need to create value. If visitors are spending few seconds on your site and leaving, that sends a bad signal to google and your site drops in ranking.

Go back and tweak your posts. Tweak and tweak until you can tweak no more. Until you get the result you want. That's the beauty of blog post writing, you can always optimize it. You put like five copies out and see which one works best, you stick with that one and keep on tweaking it, making it a little more different so it doesn't sound like monotony. Compare reading a 200 words page all jumbled up together with no paragraphs to reading a 1,000 word script with short paragraphs and subsections, which would you drop first. I bet it's the first one. Research shows that long paragraphs are not attractive. It's scary, why would I read that long block of text, many people would think to themselves. Long paragraphs intimidate readers, even in business writing . Paragraphs over 7 lines would be intimidating.

8. YOU USE UNATTRACTIVE FONTS.

Like it or not, we all like flashy things. I like 'flashy'. It's therefore necessary to use flashy to catch our attention. I've been drawn to read topics on posts which I normally found uninteresting by the quality of fonts used. Do you want to generate traffic to your blog, start using nice fonts and share your blog posts.

9. UNATTRACTIVE IMAGES.

It's not enough to have images, images should be catchy. No one likes to read too much text nowadays. For your writing to catch readers' attention, you have to create breaks by infusing doses of high quality images. The visual stimulation, preferably funny or something everyone will be able to relate to, will help increase engagement.


10. LOW NUMBER OF IMAGES.
The purpose of writing is create engagement. Really, it’s to connect with users in such a way that they say, aha, let me share this to my friends. The truth is many of us are not great writers, we can’t effectively create such emotions in our audience through writing. But the right images will. So, I suggest you always have an average of an image per 250 words to build engagement.

11. YOU'RE A JACK OF ALL TRADES.
This means; you should have a specific niche (preferably sub-niche) you blog about. You’ve heard that a zillion times. This will work for two reasons:
- You'll be able to produce unique, educative content that your readers will find helpful.
- You'll be able to rank better for that sub-niche.

12. YOUR HEADLINES ARE NOT COMPELLING
Maybe the reason many people pass by when you share your blog posts is because your headlines are too ‘cheesy’. Your prospect is, in many cases, a busy fella/lady. No one wants another confused blogger wasting their precious time. You need attention-grabbing titles. Attention-grabbing in the sense that it shows that your blog post writing bears significant value for their lives. Here are three tips to help you:

13. YOU FOCUS ON YOURSELF.
Stop blogging about your products and services. Write for your audience instead. Provide value for your visitors.  Internet marketing has gone past always popping your ads for your visitors on every page. Create value, build yourself as an authority and as time goes by, attention will naturally shift to your recommended products. But first provide content that matters to your audience.

14. YOU HAVE NO LINKBACKS.
Someone gave this tip: choose a handful of blogs from people you respect and share a common audience with. Subscribe to their RSS feeds and each morning leave a comment on one of their articles. When you do this, be sure to share the link to your blog. Note: Always make your comments meaningful, sharing your experience. It works a lot better than just agreeing with them.

Be generous with your own comments on other blogs. When the owner of the blog sees that you contributed a relevant comment, then they will be more happy to leave a comment on your blog in return. It is the concept of giving and receiving.
